Margaret Thompson

Margaret is a professional counsellor with a broad range of experience. She has a Master Degree in counselling from the University of Tasmania, a post graduate specialty counselling qualification in Solution Focused Therapy from the University of Milwaukee, a Graduate Diploma of Business in Professional Management and is a Clinical member of the Professional Counselling Association of Tasmania – PCA.

Margaret is a registered nurse and has held various roles such as clinician, educator and manager. She has a Master Degree in Nursing from Deakin University and was a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing. Margaret pursues ongoing professional education, both nationally and internationally to ensure the best service is offered.

What I love about professional counselling is being able to work with a client as they deal with something that is troubling them. I like to support the client during this difficult time and together we explore what the problem is and what might be contributing to the issue. The next step is to consider plans/strategies and solutions that the client finds best for them.

Stephanie Thompson

Stephanie is a qualified music therapist and psychotherapist. While in the UK she studied for a Masters degree in psychotherapy, and also completed a number of specialist courses in Jungian Dream Analysis, Brief Therapy and Cognitive Analytic Therapy.

She has extensive experience, both as a music therapist and psychotherapist. Some of these areas include children with special needs, palliative care and people who have experienced trauma. Stephanie also has completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

Stephanie trained in music therapy at the University of Melbourne and was awarded a Queen Elizabeth II award to undertake further studies in the United Kingdom. She has been responsible for establishing many music therapy projects in the West Midlands (UK) and Tasmania, and has lectured on music therapy in Britain and Australia. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne.
